Selective Pallet Racking will maximize warehouse storage and is a cost effective solution to storage problems. High bay racking vertically can store more pallets in a warehouse space, for a smaller building in the same footprint usually four to five times allowing either greater storage or utilizing space available. Pallet Rack is very flexible, adjustable, and reusable product that grows with your inventory flow. Selective Rack is the most common type of racking and least expensive. The rack is mainly loaded by forklift or by hand. Wire mesh decks are designed to fit on the pallet rack beams, it makes it safer and easier to place pallets onto the beams. The beams are different lengths and heights depending on the weight of the product being stored. Pallet rack that is not built to industry standard is dangerous and if overloaded can result in failure. Collapse can be fatal. The storage equipment should be inspected regularly and records kept to document breaks and repairs which should be dealt with immediately or the pallet rack could retain more fractures and stress the rest of the components. Most accidents affecting pallet rack are caused by a forklift truck.

Accessories for the pallet rack are available, and are a great way to protect the frames. Post Guards placed in front of the frame lessen the impact force to preserve shelving product. Guide rails mounted to the concrete floor in a down aisle position can guard against damage to the racking system. Identifying load and weight capacity is an industry safety standard that Direct Warehouse can help implement.
