Mezzanine staircases come with handrails and closed in stair trends. The stairs are closed in to prevent smoke from passing through the stairs. They also prevent parts from falling through.

 

Mezzanines are designed and engineered to a minimum of 125lbs per square foot. Handrails will carry a capacity of 250lbs. A side force kick-plate is provided around the perimeter of the mezzanine and around any floor openings to prevent items falling to the floor below. Staircase is designed to the floor heights of the mezzanines to provide safe access.

 

Gates can also be added to the mezzanine for loading and un-loading. A stationary lift beside the mezzanine can be used as an elevator. Steel is recommended over wood for fire resistance. Structural mezzanines are designed and engineered to each seismic area throughout British Columbia.
